Overview

As the largest high voltage test facility on the West Coast of North America, our client’s lab is equipped to conduct distribution and transmission-level testing on a wide range of electrical equipment. This includes transformers, insulators, switchgear, bushings, cables, instrument transformers, transmission line hardware, surge arrestors, SF6 insulated equipment, and transformer rectifier units (TRUs). With over 30 years of independent, third-party testing expertise, their reports are recognized for credibility and technical rigor. They offer comprehensive qualification and certification testing, custom testing solutions, field and lab-based condition assessments, forensic failure analysis, and expert witness services.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians in high voltage testing operations
  • Oversee planning, execution, and reporting of qualification, certification, and custom tests
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet safety and quality standards
  • Collaborate with manufacturers and clients to define testing requirements and interpret results
  • Support forensic investigations and expert witness engagements
  • Drive continuous improvement in testing methodologies and lab capabilities
  • Contribute to business development by expanding service offerings and client relationships
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility within one year
  • Minimum 8 years of electrical engineering experience
  • At least 2 years of direct people management (not project-only leadership)
  • Strong background in HV / MV equipment engineering
  • Experience working with manufacturers or fabricators of electrical equipment
  • Prior experience in either a manufacturing or consulting environment
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience in high voltage testing
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical design and schematics
  • Familiarity with specialized test equipment and lab protocols
