Your future role

Alstom is seeking an Electrical/Electronic Engineer to support the Ottawa Light Rail Transit (LRT) Stage 2 project. This role is critical in identifying and documenting divergences between the Stage 2 infrastructure as delivered and the contractual obligations, with a focus on signalling and communications, traction power and OCS. The successful candidate will help ensure Alstom is compensated for design changes or construction non-conformities that impact maintenance scope, thereby protecting project margins and operational integrity.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Analyze Stage 2 Electrical/Electronic infrastructure for compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify, document, and submit divergences that impact Alstom’s maintenance scope, ensuring timely and accurate claims for compensation.
  • Respond to customer submittals and technical inquiries related to communications systems.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals to assess impacts on operations and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, legal, and commercial teams to validate and process divergence claims.
  • Track and report on divergence findings, with a focus on identifying significant compensable impacts that affect project scope and maintenance responsibilities
  • Support the development of technical comments and justifications for divergence submissions.
  • Maintain organized records of all findings, correspondence, and supporting documentation.

All about you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in rail signaling, communications systems, or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with LRT or heavy rail systems, particularly in a design, construction, or maintenance context.
  • Strong understanding of contract interpretation and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a part-time capacity.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
