Distribution Team Role

The Distribution Team is the first point of contact for DC staff when the DC Manager is not at the location. This role handles the coordination and preparation of all outgoing shipments for each day while ensuring order accuracy and maintaining good customer service. The Team Lead assists in directing the storage and handling of products and inventories. The Team Lead also ensures that all incoming and outgoing material have proper documentation. The Team Lead is responsible for ensuring that all Heath, Safety and C-TPAT policies are followed. The Team Lead reports directly to the Distribution Centre Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate activities of DC staff, respond to requests and resolve conflicts.
  • Provide feedback to the DCM about employee performance issues and coach employees through performance appraisals and other performance management systems.
  • Assist in implementing performance improvement plans and initiatives.
  • Ensure all orders are shipped on-time and meet IPEX shipment service and quality standards.
    • Monitor Workbench software to prevent service failures
    • Audit shipments to ensure accuracy
    • Monitor productivity and balance workload to expedite customer orders
  • Assist in implementation of corporate practices and initiatives (5S, HSE, C-TPAT, etc.).
  • Investigate and answer customer complaints in accordance with the existing SOP, and communicate feedback to DC employees to ensure corrective and preventive measures are taken in the future.
  • Responsible for checking loads to ensure safety and C-TPAT compliance.
  • Assist the DCM in the recruiting and orientation process of new employees; responsible for new hire training.
  • Inventory management for the location.
  • Communicate departmental SOPs and SWPs to staff.
  • Contribute to monthly inspections and safety audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Certificates
  • Completion of a high-school diploma or practical equivalency and several years of working experience in a distribution/warehouse/yard environment.
Technical Skills & Experience
  • Minimum two years in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Management Development program, WHIMIS, First Aid and knowledge of IPEX products preferred.
