Mandate

The Canadian Animal Task Force Board of Directors provides strategic oversight, guides decision making, supports staff members and ensures the organization\'s adherence to its mission, vision and values. The Board is a hybrid or working / governing Board and supports staff, as needed.

Position Summary

CATF is inviting a skilled and values aligned individual to join our Board of Directors in a newly created role focused on business strategy, financial sustainability, and financial oversight. Specifically, this board position will guide the new Task Force Animal Hospital (TFAH) — CATF\'s only business initiative — through continued growth and operational evolution.

This position is distinct from our Treasurer, who oversees the overall financial health of the organization. The Task Force Animal Hospital Business Strategy and Financial Oversight board member will work closely with the Treasurer, Executive Director and staff accountant but focus on the Task Force Animal Hospital) and the strategic direction of the veterinary clinic. The TFAH currently serves marginalized owners and animal welfare organizations.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact community work while applying your business acumen to support a mission driven organization. Veterinary clinic experience is not required. What matters most is your strategic thinking, financial fluency, and commitment to meaningful community work.

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to :

Responsibilities
Strategic Oversight and Governance
  • Collaborate with the Board and Executive Director to ensure CATF\'s goals — primarily those related to TFAH — are aligned, sustainable, and future-focused.
  • Work in partnership with the Treasurer, who maintains oversight of CATF\'s overall finances, to ensure sound financial governance across both the organization programs and TFAH.
  • Actively participate in board meetings, providing leadership in areas of TFAH business operations, budgeting, and governance evolution.
  • Provide insight and oversight related to the TFAH financial forecasting, budgeting, sustainability, and organizational risk in; provide recommendations to the Board and Executive Director.
  • Update existing monthly financial forecasts with the CATF on staff Accountant for the overall organization i.e. both regular Programs and TFAH; to be presented at Board meetings.
Board Leadership and Collaboration
  • Participate actively in board meetings, leveraging expertise to key governance decisions related to sustainability and organizational growth.
  • Advance CATF\'s mission and vision.
  • Engage in ongoing evaluation of the Task Force Animal Hospital\'s impact, performance, finances and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.
  • Contribute to creating a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Help elevate the board\'s collective capacity through your subject matter expertise.
Key Relationships
  • Engage with staff and volunteers in a way that builds trust and reinforces CATF\'s mission and values.
  • Work closely with fellow board members, specifically the Treasurer, Executive Director and CATF Accountant.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Expected hours: No less than 2 per week
