Salary: $92,465 to $107,294 annually (Level M11), plus comprehensive benefits

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Association Management
  • As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance assists in setting the operational vision and planning of the YWCA Toronto in the context of the Association’s Mission Statement and Strategic Plan.
  • Leads the implementation of Quality Framework initiatives related to Finance
  • Participates in the review and maintenance of the Association’s Risk Management Framework
  • As a member of the senior management team, implements the Association’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion program
  • Acts as a signing officer of the Association.
  • Participates, on a rotating basis, as a representative of senior management in Association-wide committees.
  • Acts as the senior manager on call on a rotating basis.
Financial and Capital Asset Management
  • Ensures that appropriate accounting and control systems are in place and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles for charities and in compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
  • Plans, directs and co-ordinates the budget process, both annual and longer term.
  • Prepares financial reports for the Association, reflecting variances and projected results.
  • Conducts quarterly reviews with program, administrative and senior managers for analysis by the CEO, SMT and Board.
  • Coordinates the Board Finance Committee and Investment Sub-Committee and prepares relevant financial information.
  • Monitors cash flow, investments, and spend; ensures proper documentation and authorization of expenditures.
  • Monitors capital and trust funds to ensure donor/board restrictions are respected.
  • Coordinates with external auditors and ensures GAAP compliance.
  • Coordinates annual financial audit and assists with program audits.
  • Prepares/reviews financial components in submissions to funders and advises the CEO on financial issues.
  • Ensures compliance with financial contract requirements of all program operating agreements.
  • Assists the Director of Philanthropy with Revenue Canada requirements for charitable activities.
  • Ensures appropriate insurance coverage for the Association’s assets.
Program Planning, Delivery, and Evaluation
  • Ensures departmental programs are evaluated annually and required government reporting is completed on schedule.
  • Prepares reports for the CEO on activities and outcomes of all departmental programs, including bi-annual operational plan updates.
Community Relations, Marketing, and Advocacy
  • Collaborates in the development of strategic public relations, marketing, and fundraising plans to support programs.
  • Identifies opportunities for partnerships and collaboration with other organizations.
  • Liaises with other Program Directors to ensure collaboration and integration across programs.
Administrative and Human Resources Management
  • Ensures adherence to the policies and procedures of the Administrative Manual.
  • Recruits, trains, and evaluates the Finance staff.
  • Develops and implements an annual Access and Equity plan for the department.
  • Oversees health and safety programs in the Finance Department.
Access & Equity Management
  • Develops annual Access & Equity plan for the department in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Equity and Transformative Engagement and the CEO.
  • Promotes and implements Access and Equity policies in consultation with relevant leadership.
  • Models commitment to a socially inclusive environment sensitive to diverse staff needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional Accounting degree such as a CPA or equivalent experience; cases for equivalency will be considered.
  • Over ten years of directly related experience, including senior management experience.
  • Proven success in the non-profit charity sector with knowledge of public and private sector.
  • Alignment with YWCA Toronto’s mission, vision and values, including intersectional feminism.
  • Experience working with diverse groups within an anti-oppressive and trauma-informed framework.
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills; supervisory experience in a multicultural, unionized environment; second language is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized accounting systems.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills; experience in a feminist social service environment is an asset.

Budget 2025: $48,000,000

Supervision: 2 Direct, 6 Indirect

Committees: Finance Committee, Audit Committee, Investment Sub-Committee

Vacation may not be taken during the Annual Audit.
