Job description

You're not just a financial leader—you're a builder of organizational excellence.

At Construction Safety Nova Scotia (CSNS), they’re seeking a financial leader who can turn expertise into impact for the province’s construction industry. As their next Director of Finance and IT, you will design and lead the systems that power their mission: improving Occupational Health & Safety outcomes across Nova Scotia. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with the Finance & Audit Committees and Board of Directors, you’ll be a key member of the leadership team. Your strategic vision will guide how CSNS aligns its financial and technological resources to build safer workplaces for construction professionals.

Your impact will span multiple domains— from financial reporting and cost management to forecasting and budgeting. You’ll serve as a steward of fiscal responsibility while also leading CSNS’s information technology initiatives. In addition, you’ll oversee facilities management, ensuring that CSNS’s buildings are well-maintained and provide safe, efficient environments for all.

Your experience in the IT field will also be instrumental as you create an IT strategy for the future, the migration and implementation of new systems—mitigating risk, improving functionality, and driving CSNS’s ongoing digital transformation. You bring a powerful combination of expertise and leadership: an undergraduate degree in finance or accounting (ideally with a CPA designation) and at least five years of senior leadership experience in financial management. Your analytical thinking, strategic planning abilities, and board governance experience have prepared you to thrive in this multifaceted role. Experience in a not-for-profit environment would be an asset as you work to maximize industry impact.

CSNS is looking for someone who embodies collaborative leadership and thrives on creating environments rooted in service excellence. Your commitment to continuous improvement will help navigate the dynamic challenges of the industry. Most importantly, you're motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in construction safety across Nova Scotia—transforming financial oversight into protected lives and safer jobsites.

Join in building a culture where financial stewardship supports the mission of keeping construction workers safe.
