Role Overview
The Director of ECommerce will be responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of the company’s online business. This includes managing the user journey, technology platforms, e-commerce operations, customer support, and digital performance strategies. This leader will oversee cross-functional teams while also staying close to the tools and technologies that support growth.
This is a key leadership role for someone who blends strategic thinking with a strong command of digital tools and customer experience optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Online Growth & Strategy
- Develop and lead plans to achieve revenue targets, conversion benchmarks, and customer retention goals.
- Analyze funnel performance and digital KPIs to drive actionable improvements.
- Oversee merchandising strategy, digital promotions, product rollouts, and site content updates.
Vendor Relationships & Tools
- Manage third-party developers, tech vendors, and digital tools.
- Assess and onboard new solutions that elevate online experience and streamline operations.
Optimization & CX
- Launch testing and conversion improvement initiatives (A/B, user experience, product flows).
- Monitor behavior analytics and user pathways, identifying friction points and opportunities.
- Support landing page experimentation using modern low-code/no-code tools.
- Work closely with creative and brand teams to ensure engaging digital storytelling across campaigns.
Platform Oversight & Operations
- Manage growing cross-functional teams across various niches.
- Oversee customer support functions, ensuring efficient processes and high service standards.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (marketing, logistics, product) to align online campaigns and inventory.
Technical Infrastructure
- Take ownership of the company's e-commerce platform (built on Shopify Plus or equivalent), and integrated apps (e.g., subscription tools, CRM, customer chat).
- Review front-end code and development work to ensure stability, performance, and scalability (Liquid, HTML/CSS, JavaScript).
- Support platform upgrades and system architecture planning as the company grows.
What You Bring to the Table
- 6+ years in digital commerce roles, ideally within a high-growth consumer brand or online subscription business.
- Deep knowledge of modern e-commerce ecosystems, with hands-on familiarity with platforms like Shopify Plus, recurring billing systems, email automation, and related integrations.
- Comfortable navigating front-end code (Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and providing oversight or direction on technical implementations.
- Proven ability to grow digital sales, improve KPIs, and drive engagement through optimization.
- People Management experience overseeing teams across tech, operations, and customer experience.
- Strong data fluency—confident interpreting analytics to guide planning and decision-making.
- A hands-on approach: you thrive in environments where you're involved at both the strategic and execution levels.
