Job description
Responsibilities
  • Design and coordination
    • Assist project managers with multi-disciplinary projects
    • Assist in the preparation of engineering designs including:
      • Engineering studies
      • Technical specifications
      • Design calculations
    • Drafting of ongoing and new projects using CAD software
    • Complete design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion
    • Assist with site investigations and condition assessments
    • Assist with contract administration tasks including construction layout, construction observation, contractor submittal review, progress payment preparation and responding to requests for information
    • Complete review of safe work practices and performing risk assessments for employee tasks
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
    • Contribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
    • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
    • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request
    • Participation in the Early Career Development program

Qualifications
  • A degree in engineering from Queen\'s University
  • One to two years’ co-op or work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset
Experience
  • Knowledge of relevant municipal / provincial engineering standards, regulatory requirements, industry standards, specifications and good engineering practices will be considered an asset
  • Understand project design and implementation activities, including : development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering and contract administration will be considered an asset
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads software will be considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
