Your Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate engineering drawings, servicing studies, development proposals, and stormwater management plans to ensure compliance with the City\'s engineering standards, bylaws, policies, and applicable regulations.
- Prepare servicing agreements, conditions of approval, and development requirements for subdivisions and development permits.
- Conduct site inspections of municipal infrastructure related to land development (water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, roads, grading, drainage, etc.) to confirm compliance with approved plans, specifications, and municipal standards.
- Investigate concerns and deficiencies, ensuring corrective actions are identified and implemented.
- Provide input and technical guidance on municipal servicing design to developers, consultants, contractors, and internal partners.
- Participate in meetings with applicants, external agencies, and internal departments to review development applications and resolve technical or procedural issues.
- Support the preparation and updating of municipal servicing standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare technical reports, and provide recommendations to management.
- Assist in long-range planning, policy development, and capital project coordination related to growth and development.
What You Bring
- Knowledge of municipal engineering design, construction practices, and land development processes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of municipal engineering design, construction practices, servicing standards, and land development processes.
- Working knowledge of planning legislation, regulations, policies, and bylaws related to subdivision and development.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management, grading and drainage principles, roadway design, and underground utility construction.
- Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, technical reports, and complex development applications.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify issues, evaluate alternatives, and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal partners, contractors, consultants, and the public.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also managing independent assignments and multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, GIS, and other engineering-related software.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or Drafting Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of 4 years directly related experience in a municipal engineering environment.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator\'s License with an acceptable driving record.
- An equivalent combination of management-approved education and experience may be considered.
This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
