Working as part of a cross‑functional team you lead the RDQ activities required to complete new product development and maintain portfolios and/or productivity projects keeping in mind the goal to deliver the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

You will work independently to plan, lead and coordinate technical projects in line with RDQ, marketing and manufacturing requirements. You will effectively communicate status and risks and plan, lead and coordinate pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements. In addition, you will plan, lead and coordinate development activities (e.g. product shelf‑life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation, etc.). To provide direction for product development, you will use digital simulation models to obtain, understand and interpret consumer insights and commercial information. In this role, you will create and maintain accurate consumer‑led specifications and be responsible for stakeholder management and influencing decisions based on conclusions made from analysis and interpretation of results.

The holder of this position independently plans, leads and co‑ordinates large to medium sized projects, which includes specification work and a high level of organization required. They will deliver expert technical knowledge for their function, develop solutions to problems, ensure compliance to technical policies & procedures and deliver the technical input to address business needs. Executes against objectives and significantly influences the direction and quality of work done by other technical people.

You will:
  • Drive excellence in Project Management.
  • Plan and execute work plans, including development of risk assessments and contingency plans.
  • Analyze results of experiments and translate them into actionable recommendations with minimal guidance and support.
  • Have strong knowledge of the commercialization process.
  • Identify and efficiently utilize necessary resources to achieve timely delivery of project objectives. In addition, the candidate should have good understanding of the functional characteristics of ingredients, packaging materials, and processing capabilities and how they impact the finished product, to meet consumer and business expectations.
  • Be versatile and be able to work in cross‑functional teams. The candidate must be capable of working proactively across multiple projects. You should be able to leverage the value in MDLZ experts/partners, demonstrate and utilize an understanding of the NA supply chain network, and ensure compliance to quality documentation, regulatory requirements, FTO/IP, and confidentiality requirements.
Education / Certifications:

BS in Food Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.

Job specific requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 yrs. experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong technical foundation and technical curiosity.
  • Ability to develop, plan for, and carry out plant trials at internal and external factories.
  • Able to develop and drive technical projects with proper scientific rigor: conduct appropriate testing, gather and analyze data, and develop recommendations based on findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize and manage complexity from bench top to commercialization.
  • Participate in cross functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Write process specifications that deliver consistent, high‑quality products across numerous manufacturing facilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.
Travel requirements:

Travel up to 25%, to potential locations in Canada, Europe, US.
