Overview

The Opportunity

Zurich Canada is seeking a Guidewire Developer (PolicyCenter) to develop and customize Guidewire Applications. Reporting to the Core Platforms Delivery Lead, you will help customize user interfaces, workflows, and business logic using Guidewire Studio and Gosu (Guidewire’s programming language). This is a hybrid role in a caring, collaborative, values-driven workplace.

What you will do
  • 5+ years of Guidewire PolicyCenter or ClaimCenter configuration, with applied Java development experience and exposure to SDLC, Java EE, and Gosu.
  • Experience with full SDLC and iterative (Agile) development lifecycle as used in Guidewire implementations.
  • Hands-on Guidewire implementation proficiency and experience in Guidewire product configuration across several areas of PolicyCenter and/or ClaimCenter.
  • Experience in Guidewire Configuration Development (GOSU, Rules Engine, Data Model, PCF, Wizards, Workflow, Activity, etc.). Experience with XML, GUnit, Jenkins, Git/Subversion/TFS, code coverage, and code scan tools.
  • Leadership skills: assertive, clear communication; ability to inspire and develop a strong configuration team to deliver quality configurations.
  • P&C Insurance Industry and domain knowledge.
  • Experience working on large-scale projects, preferably for policy administration or claims systems, including at least two years on a major business integration effort covering all project lifecycle phases.
  • Expert-level Guidewire/Java developer with Guidewire PolicyCenter or ClaimCenter experience, preferably certified on version 10 or cloud.
  • Experience working directly with Guidewire PolicyCenter or ClaimCenter for Commercial Lines is preferred. Strong object-oriented analysis and programming skills.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps tools: JIRA, Git, Bamboo; SVN and Jenkins are assets. Strong integration development experience. Proficiency in JMS/Queue development is required.
  • Experience analyzing and resolving Guidewire or other application performance issues. Web service development experience (SOA) and experience with XML and JSON payloads.
  • Hands-on technical expertise related to integration with complex legacy mainframe applications is preferred.
Job Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in database analysis or programming; or

High school diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of experience in database analysis or programming; or

Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 6+ years of experience in database analysis or programming. AND experience working at multiple phases of database management.

Preferred :

  • Insurance Industry Experience.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.
