Designated Early Childhood Educator -Temporary

Location: W. Earle Miller Public School

Start date: As soon as possible (temporary position until June 25, 2026 or return ofabsent employee)

Vacancy Details: 1.0 (full-time, 35 hours/week)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered in good standing with the Collegeof Early Childhood Educators

RESPONSIBILITIES: The DECE will:

  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher andprincipal to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activitiesthat reflect the Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
  • Co-facilitate play-based activities that allowstudents to demonstrate learning related to the four frames of theFull-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
  • Effectively and efficiently observe anddocument student learning using a variety of tools and techniques toassist the educator in the assessment of the development of students
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher topromote and maintain a healthy physical, emotional and social learningenvironment
  • Assume other duties/responsibilitiesspecifically related to the functions of children and the effectivedelivery of the Early Learning Curriculum as determined by the Principaland the Superintendent of Education

ASSETS:

  • Thorough understanding of the Ministry ofEducation’s Full-Day Early Learning-Kindergarten Program
  • Thorough understanding of the developmentalcontinuum for this age group
  • Demonstrated appropriate behaviour managementtechniques with individuals, small and large groups
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills inworking with students, teachers, principals, and families
  • Demonstrated professional communication skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, positive thinking,critical thinking, and sound decision-making skills
