Overview

Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor in the Department of Indigenous Learning to commence January 1, with flexibility to the start date. The disciplinary home of Indigenous Studies at Lakehead University is known as the Department of Indigenous Learning. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate.

Qualifications
  • PhD in Indigenous Studies or an Indigenous Studies-related field by the time of appointment or in the final stages of PhD candidacy.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in the northern regions of Turtle Island and organizations outside of academe.
  • Experience grounded in community relationships.
  • Experience with innovative pedagogical practices.
  • Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery.
  • Lived experience as an Indigenous person with strong ties to Indigenous nation(s) and Indigenous knowledges will be considered a significant asset.
