DATA ANALYST I

At Neogen, our mission is to protect the world’s food supply and support animal and human health through innovation and science. We are currently seeking a Data Analyst I to join our Genomics team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timely delivery of genotypic data to our global customer base.

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to supporting quality standards through collaboration, data management, and continuous process improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the generation, quality, and accuracy of genotypic data across assigned projects

  • Facilitate data transmission to customers via LIMS and FTP systems in collaboration with operations teams

  • Support internal teams with data reformatting and structural alignment to enable further analysis

  • Conduct quality control reviews to identify and address data discrepancies

  • Maintain working knowledge of genotyping analysis software for a single platform

  • Prioritize workload and delivery schedules based on customer needs and internal planning

  • Communicate effectively with laboratory staff to support data flow and troubleshooting

  • Demonstrate familiarity with molecular biology techniques and relevant technology platforms

  • Contribute to process efficiency initiatives and cost-reduction opportunities

  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and comply with ISO 17025 Quality Standards

  • Engage professionally with colleagues and leadership across departments

  • Meet individual and team-based performance and quality goals

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in genetics, molecular biology, biology, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)

  • Experience working in a laboratory or data-heavy environment is a plus

Technical Skills:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

  • Familiarity with data manipulation tools, quality systems, and file transfer platforms

  • Ability to interpret written procedures and generate routine documentation

  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving tools and processes

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to stand, sit, use hands, and speak clearly

  • Visual abilities include close vision and color recognition

Work Environment:

  • Generally quiet laboratory or office setting

  • Occasional exposure to odors, airborne particles, or biological agents
