Job description

Pay rate, benefits and other terms and conditions are as per the CUPE (Local 139) Collective Agreement.

Qualifications
  • Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
  • Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate an asset
  • Demonstrated experience working with individuals with serious mental illness required
  • Knowledge of Recovery Oriented Practice Supporting Patient Choice
  • Good working knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice required
  • Knowledge of Forensic Nursing and Legal Framework is an asset
  • Knowledge of Forensic Nursing and Legal Framework is an asset
  • Basic computer knowledge is an asset
Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to apply conflict resolution skills required
  • Must be able to respond and fully participate in all codes (White, Red, etc.) required
  • Must adhere to the Hospital’s core values
  • Excellent level of interpersonal skills required
  • Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals as required
  • Ability to effectively assume a role as a collaborative member of the health team
  • Valid Class “G” driver’s licence required
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to work all scheduled shifts (days, nights, weekends)
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers an visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
