Job summary

A regional health center in North Bay seeks a Pharmacy Technician responsible for dispensing and compounding medications while ensuring compliance with hospital pharmacy standards. Candidates must be a registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists and have strong computer skills. Bilingualism in English and French is mandatory. Qualifications

  • Regulated Pharmacy Technician (registration with Ontario College of Pharmacists) required.
  • Knowledge and experience with Meditech an asset.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy automated technologies an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for dispensing and compounding of drugs as delegated by a Pharmacist.
  • Handles the distribution component of Pharmacy Services.

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for dispensing and compounding of drugs, as delegated by a Pharmacist, and the distribution component of Pharmacy Services, in keeping with the standards of Hospital Pharmacy practice.

Qualifications

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Regulated Pharmacy Technician (registration with Ontario College of Pharmacists) required
  • Knowledge and experience with Meditech an asset
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy automated technologies an asset

Skills/Abilities:

  • Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word) required
  • Good attendance and work record required
  • Valid driver’s licence required
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and proven analytical skills required
  • Must demonstrate commitment to ensure the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
  • Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
  • Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level
