Responsibilities
  • Embrace the role of Culinary Manager and lead the culinary and dining department as a values-driven manager.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee a team of culinary and service professionals; manage with an eye for cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate to deliver an unparalleled culinary experience marked by excellent service, diverse menus, premium ingredients, and impeccable presentation.
  • Work with Executive Director, National Director and Regional Managers of Culinary and residents to translate culinary visions into actionable plans.
  • Lead a high-performing team, oversee financials, and prioritize resident satisfaction to achieve a cohesive operation.
  • Craft an exceptional dining experience that garners distinction as the "Best In Class" in meal quality and presentation.
  • Foster collaboration, effective management, hands-on guidance, compliance assurance, relationship cultivation, and culinary innovation.
Qualifications
  • Your experience: Red Seal Certification and several years as a professional chef with progression through kitchen roles; supervision or leadership experience in a culinary setting (preferably in a unionized environment).
  • Post-secondary education in culinary management or a related field.
  • Valid Food Safety / Food Handler's Certification and understanding of food safety regulations, sanitation practices, and safe handling of ingredients.
  • Smart Serve Certification or provincial equivalent.
  • Strong computer skills for inventory management and menu planning software; budgeting and cost control experience.
  • Experience working in retirement living is an asset.
  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
