Job description
Overview

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Health and Safety, you will be part of the Health & Safety Department. You will play an important role in ensuring good health and safety practices, covering the ERT responsibilities in terms of government compliance, departmental inspections, Health & Safety training and monitoring as well as contributing to the development and promotion of policies and procedures. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for Emergency Response Team activities on site for both U/G and Surface emergencies – personnel selection, training, yearly mock scenarios, Mine Rescue competitions, emergency response, Emergency Response Plan (ERP), Crisis Management Plan;

  • Plans training sessions, ensures adequate number of properly trained emergency response team members;

  • Prepares adequate documentation in order to comply with the different government rules and ensures documentation is compliant to government regulations;

  • Works closely with the Health Care Providers;

  • Ensure that the emergency response system is functioning as outlined in the ERP;

  • Be an active participant in the cyanide transportation organizing committee;

  • Perform periodic site inspections / audits with respect to fire detection and suppression systems;

  • Ensure that our Emergency Response Plan and Crisis Management Plans are updated as necessary and that all stakeholders know and understand their roles and responsibilities as it applies to these plans;

  • Plans, leads and organizes the annual ERP mock scenarios;

  • Reviews and reports on the mock scenarios that have occurred;

  • Proceeds with a monthly compliance assessment as well as perform a site wide yearly fire risk assessment;

  • Work closely with Mutual Aid Partners to enhance rescue and response capabilities for site and the community;

  • Ensure criteria are met for all responders to remain active;

  • Ensure all emergency response equipment is maintained according to manufacturers and regulatory requirements;

  • Ensure that Emergency response / mine rescue premiums are documented and sent into payroll for processing;

  • Ensure that Emergency Response Team – time sheets are documented in a timely manner and sent in for approval and payment;

  • Contribute to the yearly budgeting process.

Qualifications
  • WSCC certification for surface and underground mine rescue;

  • 5-6 years of experience in a similar role;

  • Thorough working knowledge and understanding of efficient mining practices, procedures and regulations for both underground and surface operations;

  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meadowbank Complex is English.

Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
