Job description
Occupational Health and Safety Manager

UTLX, part of Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety Manager to oversee safety activities across multiple facilities within a region. This role ensures compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulations and leads teams responsible for health and safety programs.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Implement and ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
  • Provide management with safety data, trend analysis, and scorecard insights.
  • Review workplace injury and illness reports.
  • Guide incident root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Conduct environmental regulatory compliance audits and inspections.
  • Analyze safety trends and develop corrective / preventative actions.
  • Serve as SHE subject matter expert on engineering and innovation projects.
  • Perform onsite industrial hygiene assessments.
  • Inspect railcar cleaning processes for safety, health, and environmental compliance.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical skills and data gathering capabilities.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene standards and sampling equipment.
  • Expertise in CSA, Provincial, & OSHA General Industry Standards.
  • Detail-oriented with multitasking ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, spreadsheets, databases, and financial software.
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and wear safety equipment.
  • Visual and auditory acuity to recognize safety signals.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or related field, or equivalent safety certifications.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
  • 7-10 years of experience in heavy manufacturing, chemical processing, or foundry environments.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies and auditors.
  • Experience leading or participating in safety projects.
