Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Controller for a 14-month contract in Vancouver. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, overseeing month-end processes, and managing financial analyses. Strong organizational and analytical skills are required, alongside advanced Excel skills and CPA designation preferred. Candidates located within the Greater Toronto Area are encouraged to apply.

About Our Client

Our client is sourcing a Controller for a 14-month contract.

About the Opportunity
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements and related reports.
  • Oversee the month-end close process and complete monthly workbooks.
  • Manage, review, and approve all journal entries and transactions posted to the general ledger.
  • Review payroll for accuracy and serve as a backup for payroll preparation.
  • Assist with inventory management, including monthly cycle counts and adherence to internal controls.
  • Prepare financial analyses and provide insights into budget-to-actual variances.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and provide analytical input.
  • Liaise with external auditors and assist with the year-end audit process.
  • Maintain and document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify and implement process and control improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Participate in ERP system improvement and implementation projects.
  • Assist with day-to-day cash management and forecasting needs.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as required.
About You
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven experience supervising or leading accounting staff.
  • Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Audit experience is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, data modeling).
  • Experience with Adagio Accounting Software is an asset.
  • CPA designation or working toward it is preferred (optional depending on your needs).
