Overview

Are you a skilled negotiator with a passion for managing high-value contractual relationships?As a Contract Manager - Subcontract, you will oversee the administration of the Prime Contract and manage all associated subcontracts to ensure alignment with project goals, commercial requirements, and contractual obligations. You will lead negotiations, interpret contract terms and conditions, and mitigate risks to protect the organization’s interests throughout the project lifecycle.

What you will be doing
  • Review Prime Contract to determine the obligations, liabilities and risks; highlight risks. Consult with legal/subject matter experts for appropriate managerial review
  • Work with the project management team to develop correspondence with the client, request necessary changes and modifications to meet the project requirements; assist in negotiations concerning changes
  • Track contract changes/modifications
  • Review and assist in the preparation of monthly progress billing reporting
  • Liaise with the legal team on a variety of matters as required
  • Train project staff on contractual requirements/obligations
  • Track progress of all documentation required to support monthly progress billing reporting
  • Review subcontract and supply contract templates and adapt them to the project requirements
  • Resolve escalated, complex, or disputed subcontract issues
  • Assist procurement team with the negotiation of high-risk subcontracts
  • Negotiate supplier-specific framework agreements with vendors
  • Assist in the development of the project-wide procurement templates
  • Support procurement and estimating teams in the preparation of requests for quotes to subcontractors/suppliers
  • Develop and implement the overall supply chain strategy
  • Assist in developing processes for notifications and approvals in change management, procurement and payments matters
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Science/Commerce, Economics or other relevant discipline
  • 10-15 years of experience as subcontractor procurement management on heavy civil projects
  • Experience, familiarity, and existing relationship with major local suppliers and subcontractors in Ontario would be considered an asset
  • Practical experience of procurement processes, methods, practices, and contract administration as well as accounting and scheduling principles
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with MS Office and specialized procurement software
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, and the ability to coordinate the efforts of others to accomplish objectives
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision
  • Availability to travel to monitor supplier’s performance, production and schedules as needed
