Job description
Position Overview

Calian is proud to deliver high-quality psychological assessment services to public and private sector clients across Canada. We are seeking Psychologists throughout Newfoundland to join our team and contribute to meaningful work. In this role, you will support organizations operating in high-risk environments by conducting assessments that ensure candidates are well-suited for their positions.

As part of our national network of consultant psychologists, you will help ensure that organizations are staffed with individuals who have been thoroughly assessed and are prepared to perform their duties effectively. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the success of our clients and the professionals they employ.

We are looking for psychologists to conduct candidate selection assessments for correctional services officers and armed border agents. This role offers flexibility, as we manage referrals and coordinate assessments based on your availability.

Your work will focus on structured stress interviews and comprehensive report writing, allowing you to concentrate on your core expertise. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy variety and have a strong interest in law enforcement. It offers a dynamic environment without the need for therapeutic alliances, making it a great fit for those who prefer assessment-focused work.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews with candidates who have completed written personality assessments administered by Calian. After the interview, complete a structured template with your findings.
  • Perform the second part of a two-part assessment: review formal testing results (MMPI-3 and 16PF) and conduct a structured clinical interview.
  • Interpret test results and determine whether candidates meet the requirements of the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).
  • Provide feedback on assessment results to candidates and, when required, defend psychological evaluations.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D in Psychology (must-have)
  • Licensed for autonomous practice as a Psychologist in Newfoundland
  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience working with public safety entities such as provincial or municipal police forces, DND, RCMP, CSC, CSIS, CBSA, or provincial equivalents
  • Completion of at least 50 psychological readiness assessments for candidates
Additional Requirements
  • Casual contract and flexible working schedule
  • Assessments may be conducted on weekdays, weekends, or evenings.
  • Ability to conduct interviews either in person in a private office or remotely
