Position

Construction Millwright, Journeyperson at Aecon Group Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate rig equipment and dollies to move heavy machinery and parts
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts (often to within a fraction of a millimeter tolerance)
  • Align and test equipment and adjust
  • Perform preventive and operational maintenance using procedures such as vibration analysis, and repair or replace defective parts
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic and programmable logic controls
  • Tack welding and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement parts
  • Perform field work to a high quality and provide thorough follow up with proper and efficient documentation of work
  • Perform proactive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs for a wide range of Instrumentation and control equipment, such as hydraulic operated valves, various pressure and flow measurements, radiation density gauges, radar level transmitters, CCTV monitoring systems, and computerized control systems
  • Mentor apprentices respectfully and oversee their safety
Requirements and Experience
  • Valid Provincial Journeyperson Ticket
  • CSTS-20 Certificate

  • Experience as a Millwright in an industrial construction environment
  • Shaft alignments
  • Belt drive alignments
  • Pipe strains
  • Precision layout for equipment installation
  • Equipment base leveling
  • Rigging experience
  • Checking soft foot on rotating equipment
  • Shaft run checks
  • Setting equipment coordinates
  • Experience on Pumps, Agitators, Scrubbers, Feeders, Drive racks (Thickener tanks)
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25 kg
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and environments
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures and policies
  • Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal
