Job description

How You Will Contribute
  • Identify, qualify, and develop sales opportunities for surplus components, including semiconductors, passives, electromechanical parts, and embedded solutions.
  • Collaborate with OEM and EMS customers to evaluate excess inventory and create recovery strategies aligned with market conditions and lifecycle stages.
  • Utilize internal data systems and market tools to connect surplus inventory with global shortages and active demand.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key buyers and supply chain decision-makers across regions and industries.
  • Prepare and present commercial offers, negotiate pricing, and manage logistics to efficiently close transactions.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Product Line Management (PLM), Finance, Supply Planners, and Logistics teams.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, obsolescence risks, and global supply chain dynamics impacting component availability.
The Must Haves
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in high-tech, grey market distribution, technical sales, or supply chain roles—preferably focused on excess inventory or asset recovery.
  • In-depth knowledge of component lifecycles, cross-referencing, and sourcing methods (active, passive, electromechanical).
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, build relationships, and close deals.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and customer-facing skills.
  • Hands‑on experience with ERP/CRM systems and component databases (e.g., SiliconExperts).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is a strong asset.
Nice to Haves
  • Familiarity with global contract manufacturing and distribution networks.
  • Expertise in logistics coordination for component recovery and redistribution.
  • Knowledge of market pricing trends and cost optimization strategies.
  • Experience in negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Technical certifications or advanced training in supply chain analytics.
  • Background in managing obsolescence risks and lifecycle planning for components.
  • Proficiency in additional languages beyond English and French.
Pay Range

The salary range for this role in Canada is $80, 900 - $129, 200

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non‑Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission. In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, participation in 401(K) (USA) & DCPP (Canada) with company matching, Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company‑paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation time.
