The Commercial Sr Auto Underwriter is responsible for the profitable growth of the Commercial Auto portfolio. They are focused on developing successful broker relationships and writing and renewing profitable Commercial business. They will maintain the underwriting integrity of the Commercial Auto portfolio.

What will you do?
  • Underwrite risks presented to Gore Mutual (New Business, Renewal, Endorsement, Cancellations).
  • The Senior Auto Underwriter would be underwriting Fleet and Garage, challenging accounts, accounts deemed to be underperforming from a profitability standpoint.
  • The Senior Auto Underwriter will be responsible for managing a high priority broker relationship such as our large National brokers.
  • They will be responsible for building strong relationships which can enable trading of commercial business to improve the commercial portfolio
  • The Senior Auto Underwriter is responsible for coaching and mentoring junior staff members. They will provide guidance which is within their own authority and encourage critical thinking and promote a solution-oriented approach.
  • The Senior Auto Underwriter is responsible for their own time management and desk management as well as meeting service level agreements.
What will you need to succeed?
  • 5+ years of commercial auto underwriting experience
  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent experience
  • Enrollment in or completion of the CIP (FCIP) designation
  • Proven experience providing genuine customer service to broker partners by presenting commercial insurance solutions specific to the needs of the client
  • Proficient underwriting skills, sound judgement, decision making, negotiation and analytical ability
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Proficient skill with computer applications including a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet with broker partners throughout Ontario
Location

This role is a hybrid role and requires 2 days a week in office. Tuesdays and Thursdays are the anchor days.
