A leading defense technology firm is seeking a Co-op student for a 16-month position in hardware engineering in Calgary. The role involves designing and developing electronic circuit card assemblies and testing circuits. The Tactical Communication and Information System (TacCIS) Solutions Product Line Management (PLM) team is looking for a co‑op student to support the development of cutting‑edge MESHnet hardware products. The MESHnet product line includes Tactical Mobile Routers (TMR), Tactical Crew Stations (TCS) and Power Distribution Units (PDUs). The TacCIS PLM development team builds these products in‑house, including mechanical systems, power supplies, circuit boards, FPGAs and firmware.
As part of this dynamic team, you will be involved with the design, component selection, implementation, validation, debugging and lifecycle management of various circuit cards. Circuit card complexities vary from simple debug cards to highly complex HDI PWBs with Intel Xeon processors, DDR4, multi‑gigabit Ethernet, artificial intelligence accelerators and high‑speed FPGA SoCs.

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
The expected hourly rate for this position is $23.08 – $32.41. Final compensation will be determined based on your relevant work experience to date. As part of student placement, you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
