Co-Op and Career Path Student -Wastewater Treatment

Are you looking for a chance to put your education into practice? Take it to the next level with an 8 month Co-op position with the City of Kelowna!

We are looking for energetic, and versatile individuals to join our Wastewater team. You will assist in daily activities at the Wastewater Treatment Plant which will include providing assistance to the lab, helping out operations and maintenance staff with yard maintenance, cleaning and general maintenance.

The 8 month Co-op positions run from May through December. Eligible candidates will be enrolled in and returning to school full-time in the subsequent academic year and have strong communication, teamwork, customer service, and problem-solving skills. International students must be attending school full-time, possess a valid study permit and may require a valid co-op work permit when applying for a co-op position. Please note that international students can only participate in co-op work terms for up to 50% of their total program of study (example: a 2 year diploma program is limited to two co-op work terms).

Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a full time Education Program at a post-secondary institution
  • Completion of 1st year of post-secondary education in an environmental science related field or in a Water Engineering Technology program.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organization skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Valid BC Driver’s License
  • Must be physically able to lift, walk, bend, and operate light equipment

We have opportunities for an eight month term from May to December 2026. This is a CUPE bargaining unit position with an hourly rate of $25.22 to $27.16 per hour plus 14% in lieu of benefits, vacation and statutory holidays.
