Job description

Purpose & Scope

The CNC Setter Operator Co-op must perform the duties of the position for the production of products for our customers. Work must be done in a safe and efficient manner and comply with Johnson Electric’s Health & Safety policies, procedures and quality systems. Working knowledge with SPS, 5S and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure machines are set up to machine the required parts
• Install and remove spindle chucks, collets, drawbars, spindle adaptors and cutting tools as necessary
• Index cutting inserts and make size change adjustments to machines as required
• Load and unload parts on machines to maintain required production levels
• Chart SPC data as determined by process sheet specifications
• Ensure that the requirements of the Quality Management System and Environmental Health & Safety Systems are met.
• Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Computer Numerical Control Machining Program Certificate in progress

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of machining principles and practices
• Familiar with CNC controls and programming techniques
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment, in the automotive industry is an asset
• Good mathematical and analytical skills
• Knowledge of conventional machine methods is an asset
• Good interpersonal skills. Able to work well independently or in a team environment
• Good communication skills
• Strong work ethic and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality

Language Skills

• Proficient in English (both spoken and written)

Work Environment (including Physical Demands)

• Work indoors. Environment can be noisy and dealing with different temperatures (e.g. extreme heat)
• Ability to lift a maximum of 30 lbs
• Work shifts may include days, afternoons, nights or continental
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods at a time
• Able to work overtime when required/requested
