A global manufacturing leader in Windsor, Canada is seeking a CMM Programmer to develop and implement CMM programs for quality assurance. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in CMM programming, knowledge of ISO standards, and strong analytical skills. This role involves collaborating with production teams and conducting internal audits for compliance, ensuring high quality in all processes.
The CMM Programmer is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs to ensure accurate dimensional inspection of components, subassemblies, and final assemblies. This role plays a critical part in quality assurance through comprehensive measurement, calibration, audit processes, and support for continuous improvement activities in line with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:The CMM Programmer must be able to perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodation:
Operate and maintain measurement laboratory equipment and CMM systems.
Develop and validate CMM programs for inspection of components, subassemblies, and final assemblies.
Execute dimensional inspection for parts and assemblies, ensuring product compliance with drawings and specifications.
Develop and implement calibration plans; calibrate and adjust assembly fixtures and devices.
Perform product and process capability evaluations.
Conduct internal audits, including error-proofing verification and process adherence.
Create and manage measurement device programs (e.g., Datamyte).
Support supplier evaluations and monitor supplier quality performance.
Contribute to compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer-specific quality requirements.
Participate in customer quality performance analysis and improvement activities.
Maintain document control and quality system records.
Collect and evaluate measurement data; validate assembly tooling and jigs.
Analyze daily inspection reports and measurement trends.
Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Provide measurement support for components and PPAP/PSO processes.
Track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for internal quality metrics.
Collaborate closely with production employees and quality engineers to support manufacturing.
Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
Respond to potential nonconformances by notifying relevant stakeholders.
Engage in World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
Stop production when safety or quality issues require immediate resolution (after notifying the Supervisor and Plant Manager).
Support maintenance of ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 processes.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
High school diploma or GED required; associate or technical degree in a related field preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience in CMM programming and metrology within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Proficiency in CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar).
Knowledge of quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred:
Experience with Datamyte systems.
Familiarity with PPAP, PSO, and audit requirements.
Previous experience in an automotive or regulated manufacturing environment.
May be required to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 25 lbs.
Work is performed in both an office and manufacturing environment.
Use of PPE is mandatory as required by safety policies.
