Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Security Engineer for one of our customers in Halifax, NS. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in cloud security , practical experience with AWS services, and a deep understanding of cloud security best practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement secure cloud infrastructure architecture on AWS, adhering to security best practices and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain AWS-specific security policies, frameworks, and guidelines to ensure a robust security posture.
  • Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) in AWS, including role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, and secure credential management.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures such as VPC configuration, security groups, and network ACLs to safeguard cloud resources.
  • Utilize AWS security services like WAF, Shield, and Firewall Manager to protect against DDoS attacks and web application threats.
  • Ensure data security by employing encryption techniques (AWS KMS, S3 encryption) for data at rest and in transit.
  • Implement secure storage solutions using AWS S3, EBS, and Glacier, ensuring data integrity, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor and respond to security events and incidents using AWS security monitoring tools (CloudWatch, GuardDuty, Security Hub).
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of AWS infrastructure to identify and remediate potential risks.
  • Automate security tasks and compliance checks using AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or AWS Config to ensure consistent and secure deployments.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects and developers to integrate security practices into the CI/CD pipeline, container security, and serverless security.
  • Stay updated with AWS security updates, new services, and best practices, and contribute to the AWS security community.
  • Provide security guidance, training, and documentation to educate teams on AWS security features and best practices.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and provide recommendations for improving the overall security posture of AWS environments.
  • Manage and maintain security certifications and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA) for AWS cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Proficiency in AWS security services and tools, including IAM, VPC, Security Groups, AWS WAF, GuardDuty, CloudWatch, and Lambda.
  • Expertise in network security concepts, firewall management, and secure network architecture design.
  • Understanding of encryption techniques, key management, and data protection methodologies in the cloud.
  • Experience with security monitoring, logging, and incident response using AWS security tools and third-party integrations.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and experience with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.

    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
