About the Opportunity

The Clinical Therapist is a member of the Urgent Care / Crisis Service team in Mental Health and Addictions. Reporting to the Manager, the Clinical Therapist provides assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and crisis management for clients. The Clinical Therapist carries out the general duties of the Urgent Care team and, in addition, participates in quality initiatives, engages in collaborative person-centred care, and utilizes available information technology to support best practice. The Clinical Therapist receives and provides supervision and mentorship as part of a community of practice. It is expected that the Clinical Therapist acts in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice. They will convey respect and demonstrate understanding of diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline (Master’s in social work, Psychology – Registered, Master’s in Counseling, Master’s in Nursing, Master’s in Occupational Therapy)
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DSM-5 criteria for mental health disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in individual and group evidence-informed therapies based on care plans for clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families and providing family-sensitive services
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide and violence risk assessment/intervention
  • Non-violent crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment preferred
  • Awareness of community resources and programs
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple software applications
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and participate as a multidisciplinary team member
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset; French preferred

Two (2) years licensed related clinical experience (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention, and discharge planning) is required. If not available, candidates with less than two (2) years of licensed experience may be considered for the selection process. If offered employment, they will be placed on the Clinical Therapist (Dev) scale.

  • Permanent Full-Time Position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Shifts include weekends and evenings
Compensation and Benefits

Clinical Therapist - $40.18 - $54.14 hourly

Clinical Therapist (Developmental) - $35.83 - $46.37 hourly
