We have a new opportunity for a Clinical Specialist, Vision Care. The primary role is to support health care professionals (HCP) with continuing education by implementing and executing training programs, driving environment, health, safety requirements and policies, and delivering product administration training for glaucoma, best practices sharing, and patient safety education in clinics. The position is national and field-based from the province of Quebec and reports to the Senior Manager, Clinical Specialist.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute training programs for HCPs aligned with glaucoma therapeutic area strategic imperatives.
- Perform baseline and ongoing assessments to identify training needs and develop tailored curricula and plans.
- Coach and support healthcare professionals through their learning journey and determine when learning objectives are met.
- Deliver follow-up training and coordinate additional support with clinical experts to address HCPs requests for clinical guidance.
- Build and facilitate medical training sessions, including organizing surgical training and educational wet labs.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional team members.
- Provide expertise on product, disease, and anatomy for current and future AbbVie Vision Care products.
- Offer unaccredited healthcare professional programs addressing HCP learning needs related to scientific and clinical issues in vision care (e.g., product administration techniques, monitoring and management of patient treatment).
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external experts; act as the key contact for clinical training requirements.
- Support Vision Care in alignment with Innovation Medicines Canada guidelines and AbbVie’s health care compliance principles.
Qualifications
Education / Experience required:
- Licensed Health Care Professional (e.g., Registered Nurse, Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist, Certified Ophthalmic Technician JCAHPO certified).
- Relevant surgical glaucoma disease expertise:
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical devices industry with training experience (minimum five years) is an asset.
- Solid clinical and scientific knowledge of glaucoma and eye anatomy.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and IMC guidelines.
- Strong commitment to compliance, quality and integrity in the evolving health care environment.
- Understanding of the Canadian regulatory environment.
Essential skills and abilities:
- Advanced use of technology tools in project management is an asset.
- Advanced presentation skills and proficiency with PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- French language skills are an asset.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 60%, including weekends and evenings).
