Job description

Phasor Engineering is currently seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Group, located at our Calgary, Alberta office or Burnaby, BC office. Reporting to the Civil Engineering Manager, this position will be responsible for leading and executing the structural design engineering efforts with the following duties and responsibilities.

Roles:
  • Provide cost-effective structural foundation designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender and construction by local codes and standards.
  • Lead and mentor designers /drafters and less experienced engineers.
  • Perform site visits, inspections, and preparation of reports relating to existing and new structures.
Qualifications:
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a structural engineer.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in Canada directly related to foundation design.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta.
  • Project experience in foundation design for major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience in the design of foundation for electrical power transmission lines and substations would be an asset. Specifically, knowledge and experience should include foundations (subgrade, driven pile, grillage, mat, caisson, helical) guy anchors (concrete block, helical, over-burden grouted, load testing, pull testing), concrete/grout (reinforcing steel, mixing, placing, sampling, testing).
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Finite Element Analysis and good knowledge of related structural engineering software for analysis.
  • Experience in seismic design and analysis would be an asset.
