Job description
Why We’re Here

At TRUE Consulting, relationships are at the heart of everything we do – TRUE, genuine relationships built on honesty, trust, and mutual success. We believe that when you genuinely care about the people you work with, engineering excellence follows naturally. That’s why we focus on building long-term partnerships, not just one-off projects. Our commitment to clients goes beyond contracts; our work speaks for itself, with satisfied clients returning time and again and sharing their experiences with others.

For our team, we create a supportive, inspiring, and inclusive environment that values people over profits. With low turnover and a strong sense of community, we invest in our employees’ well‑being and success, empowering them to achieve remarkable things.

How We Do It Differently

Exceptional engineering starts with exceptional service. At TRUE, responsive customer service is our Brand Promise. Thanks to our low staff turnover, our clients work consistently with a dedicated team of experienced experts who understand their unique needs and goals. This continuity enables us to deliver practical, common‑sense solutions that tackle real challenges without unnecessary complexity. We believe meaningful relationships drive the best results; by staying closely connected to our clients, we exceed expectations and foster lasting trust.

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training to join our team. The role will include working on municipal engineering projects including water, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems, road and transportation improvements, site preparation and earthworks, and subdivision and development projects.

You’ll be part of a close‑knit group of experienced personnel, including specialist engineers, client managers, and project managers, all dedicated to ensuring your success. At TRUE, you’ll find the best of both worlds: we’re large enough to offer expert services across all aspects of transportation engineering, yet small enough to maintain a family‑like environment where everyone’s contributions are valued.

As a member of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on impactful projects and apply your expertise in practical, client‑centered ways. We’re seeking a candidate who values what we do, how we do it, and most importantly, why we do it. The successful candidate will understand the importance of our culture and be ready to grow within an organization that prioritizes people and relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Civil design, project management and contract administration.
  • Assisting professional engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed analysis, design, or computational requirements.
  • Completing water system modeling (WaterCAD) and sanitary sewer and stormwater modeling (PCSWMM).
  • Preparing technical memos, design reports, and presenting findings to clients.
  • Preparation of project specifications and cost estimates.
  • Drafting and design using AutoCAD and Civil3D software.
  • Supporting the work of senior engineers and other technical staff appointed to the project.
  • Travel within the Interior and Central Interior.
  • Field work such as facility site inspections and construction inspections and documentation.
About You
  • Experience: 0-5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional Qualifications: Registered (or able to be registered) as an EIT with EGBC
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of water system hydraulics, open channel and pipe flow, transportation and road design
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good research and technical writing skills.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to define problems, prioritize tasks, and maintain a community‑driven perspective.
  • Innovative Spirit: Genuine curiosity, a desire to innovate, and expand personal and company knowledge.
Other Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
  • Computer competency, experience with Civil 3D, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, or GIS should be highlighted
  • A valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers License
