GFT is seeking a Civil Designer/Engineer to join our Transportation team in either Toronto or Ottawa, ON. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto or our Ottawa office.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

We are looking for a self-starter who will work with a highly functioning, entrepreneurial, autonomous team and be responsible for providing design & multidisciplinary coordination for a variety of projects and clients, including the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Metrolinx, and various municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area/Ottawa Area. • Work with clients and attendance at meetings is required.
• Coordinate in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team environment.
• Contribute to planning, preliminary design and detail design for interesting infrastructure projects.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings (plans, profiles, sections, and miscellaneous details) with limited to high complexity in support of broader engineering activities.
• Develop practical applications of engineering principles and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and standards.
• Produce plans, 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or MicroStation & InRoads.
• Gather and record information to be used for cost estimating.
• Prepare specifications.
• Conduct site inspections & investigations during design development process.
• Provide technical writing input to proposals, feasibility studies, design criteria and other reports.
• Interfacate and manage civil engineering sub disciplines such as drainage, traffic, geotechnical, survey and others.
