The Opportunity

Seeking a Chief Information Officer to lead a streamlined operation of the Information Technology Services department in alignment with the academic and administrative objectives of the College. The incumbent will plan, coordinate, direct, manage and design IT-related activities and provide administrative direction and support for daily operations. Define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices. The CIO will work with other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for the College. The CIO is accountable for leadership of the following functional areas: application support including enterprise systems, application programming, database administration and web-based applications; cybersecurity; network support including network engineering, data centre operations and telecommunications; user support including central helpdesk, training, PC support, and learning management systems.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and align IT Services with the College’s academic and administrative objectives.
  • Plan, coordinate, direct, manage and design IT-related activities; provide administrative direction for daily operations.
  • Define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure IT initiatives are strategically aligned with business priorities and deliver exceptional service.
  • Oversee enterprise systems, cybersecurity, network operations, user support, and learning management systems.
  • Provide executive approval and management of significant technology investments and manage vendor relationships.
  • Drive system modernization and organizational transformation projects.
  • Establish and enforce security protocols, disaster recovery plans, and compliance frameworks.
What you need to be successful
  • Four-year degree in Computer Science/Information or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years related work experience in a management role, preferably in a unionized environment
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
  • People leadership and business acumen, including excellent relationship management
  • Ability to coach, mentor, lead and inspire a diverse technology team through transformation
  • Experience building a customer-centric IT team with strategic recruitment and performance standards
  • Proven experience in significant system modernization and change management
  • Develop and enforce security protocols, disaster recovery and compliance frameworks to safeguard assets
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align IT with business priorities and service expectations
  • Approve and manage major technology investments and cultivate external partnerships to optimize service delivery
  • Experience implementing ERP or enterprise management systems
  • Proven ability to lead technology projects and teams
  • Foster innovation and continuous improvement within IT while managing budgets, resources, and vendor relationships
  • Manage cybersecurity initiatives to protect data, systems and networks
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Establish IT compliance standards and practices including data classification and retention
Compensation and terms

This is a full-time administrative position. Salary range is Payband 14, $129,743 to $172,991 and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
