Impact Chemistry, Inc. works closely with industrial partners to address their unique technical challenges. We engage with companies in the semi-conductor, battery, cleantech and bio-products sectors. Synthetic chemistry or process development solutions are accomplished by our technical team in our 3000 ft2 wet chemistry laboratory. We are currently recruiting a chemical or chemical engineering co-op student for an onsite, 12-16-month internship at 945 Princess Street, Kingston, ON with a flexible start date of May 1, 2025.

The Chemical Laboratory Assistant will primarily assist Development Scientists and Laboratory Technologists conduct chemical laboratory tests and experiments. They will also carry general tasks related to the overall maintenance and safe day-to-day operations of a chemical laboratory.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist with experimental work assigned by scientists, in accordance with Impact Chemistry health and safety policies, such as:
• Preparation of standards, reagents, and solvents for experiments
• Quality control analysis of raw materials and final products
• Preparation of technical reports for internal and external use
• Other project work as needed
• Quality work, completed in a timely fashion, with variances noted and recorded
• Accurate record keeping using the approved tracking processes, such as the Electronic Lab Notebook software
• Communicate and interact effectively with fellow technical team members
• Have a passion for chemistry, working safely, collaboratively and helping our clients achieve their goals

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Chemistry, Engineering Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Previous research experience is preferred
• Knowledge of basic chemistry laboratory practices
• Understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements in a chemistry laboratory environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the desire to be a part of an effective team
• Strong skills in MS Office tools will be beneficial (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
• Currently legally permitted to work in Canada
