Travel Expenses: Paid (by air)

Location: Northwest Territories

Rotation: 14 days on / 14 days off

Start Date: Immediately

Camp Population: + / - 120

Working Hours: 12 hours per day

Criminal Record Check, Pre-employment medical and drug test are all required

A well-established Canadian owned camp catering company is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to file the role of Executive Chef at a remote mining camp in the Northwest Territories. This position will be accountable for all aspects of the food served and service delivered to the customer.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and foster a safe work environment. Be a leading force creating a safety culture amongst catering personnel by providing coaching and recognition to employees
  • Take direction from and work with Operations Manager to meet goals and requirements
  • Manage the kitchen operations including food preparation, cleaning schedules, safety, ordering, inventory control, budgets and staffing schedules
  • Develop kitchen personnel through training and mentorship
  • Complete all required reports accurately and on time
  • Work with management to evaluate health and safety performance. Highlight health and safety issues, make recommendations and / or issue instructions (based on reports, audits, analysis) that will be implemented to enhance performance
  • Be hands on in the kitchen and prepare food products
  • Ensure all food products served to the client meet or exceed their expectations
  • Maintain an effective open door communication system that crosses departmental lines in order to reach all stake holders
  • Conduct regular documented audits and inspections. Produce documented action plans to address deficiencies and ensure action items are completed in a timely manner
  • Aid in the investigation of all incidents and near misses to develop control measures
  • Respond to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action including timely follow up
  • Other duties as required

  • Demonstrated communication, problem solving, organizational and people management skills
  • Financial management skills in order to maintain budgets and inventories
  • Minimum 3 years of kitchen experience in a camp setting
