Category Manager, Processed Meat & Frozen

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Category Manager, Processed Meat & Frozen on a temporary basis (up to 6 months) on our Consumer Products team. This position is a hybrid opportunity and is based in Saskatoon, SK. For the right fit we will consider candidates in Calgary, AB, Edmonton, AB or Winnipeg, MB.

Drive the growth of frozen and processed meat offerings across the Co‑operative Retailing System (CRS) by leading product assortment, marketing strategies, and vendor negotiations. If you're passionate about innovation and strategic category management, this role is for you!

What you’ll do:

  • Lead category reviews, manage product assortment, and introduce innovative products to drive growth and speed to market.
  • Develop and execute promotional strategies through flyers and other initiatives aligned with category goals.
  • Negotiate with vendors on marketing, promotions, and pricing; collaborate with Retail Pricing to enhance category performance.
  • Support and manage Category Management Specialists, assist Procurement and Logistics teams to optimize service levels and inventory turnover.
  • Set and monitor category financial targets; build strong supplier relationships to enhance product assortment, pricing, and private label development.

Who you’ll work with: Team: You will have one Category Management Specialist reporting into you and will report into the Senior Manager, Category Development. This team strives to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and results‑driven.

The Collaborators: You will work collaboratively with Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing, Shared Services including the Store Brands Specialist, to execute strategies in-store, communicate retail expectations, and identify new product or program opportunities.

The Customers: You will demonstrate customer focus while supporting local Co‑op Food Stores.

Who you are: You are looking for a career in Category Management and :

  • Have 6-9 years of relevant progressively responsible experience. Knowledge of meat items would be considered an asset.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in business or marketing (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
