Casual Employment Call Out – Reception, Janitorial, Public Works, Bus Drivers, Solid Waste Removal & Wellness Center (Gym)
Potlotek First Nation is inviting you to join our Casual Employment List to help support daily operations and services across our departments.
We’re looking for dependable, community-minded individuals who want to contribute to keeping Potlotek running smoothly and support our programs and facilities.
Casual work is a great opportunity to:

Additional areas may be added as new programs or needs arise.
Casual Roles Include
Reception (Casual Coverage)
Duties may include:
- Greeting and directing visitors in a friendly, professional manner
- Answering and transferring phone calls
- Taking messages and providing basic information to community members
- Assisting with filing, photocopying, scanning and data entry
- Maintaining a tidy and welcoming front desk and reception area
Requirements/Assets:
- Strong communication and people skills
- Basic computer skills (email, Word, etc.)
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Previous administration or customer service experience is an asset, but not required — training is available
Janitorial (Casual Coverage)
Duties may include:
- Daily cleaning of offices, common areas, washrooms and entrances
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and garbage removal
- Restocking supplies (soap, paper products, etc.)
- Assisting with set-up and clean-up for meetings or events
- Reporting any maintenance or safety issues to supervisors
Requirements/Assets:
- Ability to work independently and follow a cleaning schedulePhysically able to lift, bend and be on your feet for periods of time
- Experience in cleaning or maintenance is an asset
- Willingness to follow health and safety and WHMIS guidelines (training can be provided)
Public Works (Casual Labour)
Duties may include:
- Assisting with snow removal (shoveling, sanding, supporting equipment operators)
- Seasonal landscaping (mowing, trimming, raking, planting)
- General community maintenance and small projects as assigned
- Assisting with minor repairs and upkeep of community spaces
- Following all safety procedures and using PPE as required
Requirements/Assets:
- Enjoy working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Physically able to lift and carry materials and equipment
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions
- Experience with tools, machinery, or maintenance is an asset
- Valid driver’s license is an asset for some tasks
Bus Drivers (Casual Coverage)
Duties may include:
- Safely transporting students and/or community members to and from school, programs, and events
- Conducting pre-trip, post-trip vehicle inspections and cleaning of bus
- Maintaining a safe, respectful environment on the bus
- Ensuring schedules and routes are followed as directed
- Reporting any concerns, incidents, or mechanical issues
Requirements:
- Valid Class 2B license/ Class 4 for White Bus
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Strong safety awareness and reliability
- Comfortable working with children and community members
- Ability to pass any required background checks (e.g., CPIC, Vulnerable Sector)
Solid Waste Removal (Casual Labour)
Duties may include:
- Assisting with garbage and recycling collection along designated routes
- Loading and unloading materials and waste
- Supporting community clean-up initiatives
- Assisting with waste hauling and transfer station duties as required
- Following all safety procedures and using PPE
Requirements:
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement (Asset)
- Experience operating large vehicles is required
- Physically able to lift and carry materials, and work outdoors in all seasons
- Willingness to follow safety standards and instructions
Wellness Center / Gym (Casual Support) (as needed)
Duties may include:
- Greeting gym users and monitoring sign‑in
- Helping keep the facility clean and organized (wiping equipment, tidying spaces)
- Providing basic information on gym rules and hours
- Assisting with special wellness events or programs
Requirements/Assets:
- Interest in health and wellness
- Good people skills and reliability
- Ability to enforce basic facility rules in a respectful way
- Experience in fitness, recreation, or customer service is an asset
