The Role:

Medcan is seeking a Casual Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic, high-performance nursing team in the Annual Health Assessment Clinic. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, client-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and values exceptional care. The role is accountable for the effective delivery of primary care nursing services for clients during the annual health assessment focused on immunizations, health history review, and other Medcan services. You will work both independently and collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure an outstanding client experience.

What you'll do:

  • Immunization and vaccination education and administration according to the Publicly Funded Immunization Schedule for Ontario
  • Reviewing client prescreening questionnaires and identifying if vaccination is appropriate
  • Managing adverse reactions or any emergency medical situations that may arise in-clinic
  • Coordinating with other clinic staff to ensure exceptional delivery of service
  • Health assessment and teaching on immunizations and expected outcomes, adverse reactions and how to manage accordingly
  • Monitoring and facilitating the flow of patients through the clinic in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist as-needed within the Annual Health Assessment, Year-Round Care, Pediatric and other Specialty Clinics.

What you'll need:

  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience
  • Nursing experience in a primary care, acute care, ambulatory care, travel health, occupational health and pediatric nursing preferred.
  • Good understanding of publicly-funded vaccine schedule and travel vaccines is an asset
  • Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize
  • Current CPR/BCLS certification
  • Superior verbal, written and electronic communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and Word

This is a casual role with a minimum of 2 Saturday shifts plus any additional availability scheduled per month during business hours Monday through Sunday. The role sits primarily at our Toronto Clinic at 150 York St., opportunity to support other clinic locations may be available.
