Overview

The Good Spirit School Division invites applications for Casual Caretakers.

Casuals are called in as required when a permanent employee is absent. Caretakers are valuable members of the team who provide for a clean, functional and attractive environment in all facilities owned and operated by the Division. These individuals ensure the students "come first" and have the support they need to create a positive, friendly and safe learning environment.

Salary Details

In accordance the CUPE 4784 Collective Agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general care, upkeep, and maintenance on the school plant, the school grounds and school equipment including but not limited to:
  • The operation and checks of building mechanic systems.
  • Minor repairs in and around the school building as required.
  • Janitorial duties, snow removal, floor refinishing and upkeep of the school and school grounds.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal or Caretaker Coordinator and those listed in Job Description – Facilities: Caretaker.
Qualifications
  • Grade 10 Education or equivalent.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certification.
  • Level 1 Occupational Health and Safety.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean and operational facility.
  • Direct experience in the caretaking field and the ability to work independently and as a team member would be considered an asset.

Applicants not currently working for GSSD will be required to submit a recent (within the last six months) criminal record and vulnerable sector check acceptable to the Board of Education prior to offer of employment.
