The Canada Privacy Officer helps execute the Firm’s Enterprise Privacy Program with a primary focus on the Firm’s Canadian operations, reporting directly to the Deputy Enterprise Privacy Leader. The Canada Privacy Officer serves as the Firm’s subject matter expert on Canadian privacy matters and executes the Enterprise Privacy Program strategy within our Canadian operations to maintain demonstrable compliance. The Canada Privacy Officer will serve as the primary point of contact within the Privacy Office for routine matters regarding Canadian operations and privacy compliance, including privacy impact assessments, contracting questions, cross-border data transfer questions, and due diligence inquiries.

Responsibilities
  • Enterprise Privacy Program Alignment & Execution: Primary responsibility for execution and alignment of the Firm’s enterprise privacy program within the Firm’s Canadian operations. Participates in the strategic evolution and implementation of the Enterprise Privacy Program within Canada and ensures quantifiable risk parameters are included within policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Privacy Leader and Deputy Enterprise Privacy Leader to develop and maintain metrics for internal reporting.
  • Serve as a strategic business advisor and partner to the Firm, developing close relationships and a deep understanding of the needs of our clients’ business and talent at all levels of the Firm.
  • Create trainings, policies, standards, guidance documents and practice aids, and tailor enterprise privacy program materials to meet the needs of Canadian clients, talent, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide pragmatic, business-minded advice on new product and service developments to expedite speed to market, accelerate digital velocity, and enhance digital experiences. Serve as the primary point of contact within the Privacy Office for routine matters involving Canadian privacy obligations.
  • Monitor and evaluate new and existing Canadian, U.S., and global privacy laws and obligations, as well as industry best practices; serve as a trusted business advisor to RSM. Participate in the execution of strategic priorities relative to new and existing privacy laws and obligations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to foster a culture of privacy awareness and compliance. Support and champion the Privacy by Design program.
  • Operationalize lawful cross-border data transfers of Canadian data, including assessment of legal bases and instruments for such transfers and related certifications.
  • Provide support on internal investigations into potential violations or non-conformities with applicable privacy laws, standards, and policies, and recommend remediations.
  • Champion and support governance, compliance, and risk management programs in adjacent areas.
  • Assist with maintenance and implementation of privacy governance, risk, and compliance programs and privacy-enhancing technologies.
  • Support other aspects of the enterprise privacy program as needed.
Administrative Duties

Develops reports and dashboards for key performance indicators.

Incident Response

Address potential privacy incident response(s) for routine matters involving Canadian personal data, including establishing reasonable measures to prevent recurrence.

Education / Certifications
  • Bachelors Degree Required

Experience

Compensation Range: $113000 - $170000. Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
