Qualifications

  • Camp certifications: Ropes Course, NLS, Waterfront, Canoe/Kayak, & Pleasure Craft Operator Card considered an asset.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • Valid Drivers License is an asset.

The Opportunity

As the Camp Coordinator, you will play an essential role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and providing a positive experience for campers, staff, and families. As part of the Resource Staff Team the Camp Coordinator will work alongside the Camp Management team; you will manage administrative duties, coordinate schedules, and enhance camp communications, including social media. If you’re organized, passionate about youth programs, and ready to make an impact, this seasonal opportunity is perfect for you.

Responsibilities
  • Manage daily office operations, responding to phone and email inquiries, and addressing parent concerns professionally and promptly.
  • Collaborate with the YMCA Marketing Department to oversee Camp Glenburn’s social media presence, ensuring at least three posts per week.
  • Create and maintain staff duty schedules while assisting with camper and staff record-keeping.
  • Organize and distribute camper mail, packages, and emails, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Oversee lost-and-found procedures, ensuring weekly clean-ups, storage, and effective communication with families.
  • Assist in booking camp rentals, conducting site tours, and providing information to potential renters.
  • Support counseling staff by offering feedback and assistance, and contribute to team collaboration.
  • Uphold child protection practices and ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all campers and staff.
  • To assist in other Camp operations as requested by the Camp Director.
  • To strive to ensure that every child who attends Camp Glenburn is treated with respect, understanding and compassion.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Ongoing or completed Bachelor's Degree, Community College diploma or similar from an accredited institution.
  • Camp certifications: Ropes Course, NLS, Waterfront, Canoe/Kayak, & Pleasure Craft Operator Card considered an asset.
  • Valid Drivers License is an asset.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, customer service skills, a team player.
  • An excellent team player able to share cooperative leadership with other staff.
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, site locations.
  • Mental Health First Aid Training or equivalent considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a Day Camp or Youth Program setting.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification.
  • A commitment to living on-site at Camp Glenburn from May to September.
  • Employment is contingent on clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Social Development Clearance Check.
