Job description

Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Camp Cook in our Fort McMurray area of operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for camp personnel while ensuring all health, safety, and sanitation standards are consistently met.

Responsibilities
  • Promote safety awareness by ensuring compliance with corporate health and safety policies
  • Ensure all food preparation and portioning are completed prior to cooking
  • Prepare high-quality food using various cooking methods, including deep-frying, pan-frying, broiling, baking, boiling, grilling, sautéing, and steaming
  • Operate commercial and non-commercial kitchen equipment
  • Wash, slice, peel, and cut meat, seafood, fruits, and vegetables
  • Prepare sauces from scratch or using pre-mixed products
  • Season and marinate meats and other food items
  • Assist with menu planning
  • Assist with inventory counts
  • Assist with grocery orders
  • Assist with unloading, loading, and organizing groceries and supplies
  • Clean and sanitize designated kitchen areas
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations and quality standards are met
Qualifications
  • Red Seal Certification
  • Advanced Food Safe Certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working as a cook in remote camps
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Standard First Aid certification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray area on a rotational schedule (20/10, night shift)
  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform assigned duties
  • Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
