Job Summary

The Buyer is responsible for indirect spend procurement activities, including tactically replenishing and maintaining adequate inventory levels of operational supplies to support manufacturing and facility operations. The successful candidate will be able to perform procurement activities while meeting KPIs. Strong vendor relationship management and a process improvement approach will be among the pillars for success. The Buyer role is entry level, and the successful candidate will report into the Sr. Buyer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Tactically support indirect spend related consumables, supplies and services to optimize facility and commercial operations.
  • Issue purchase orders to suppliers with accurate vendor, product, and cost information in a timely fashion.
  • Immediately resolve purchase order discrepancies with vendor and internal teams.
  • Escalate and obtain resolution on supplier quality related incidents in a timely fashion.
  • Resolve issues related to supplier non-compliance on warehouse receiving paperwork.
  • Track spend approvals for all purchase orders ensuring alignment with DOA matrix.
  • Expedite purchase orders where necessary to meet scheduling and project requirements.
  • Communicate order status, expedite orders, communicate order status exceptions, contract obligations, and post-receipt actions to all internal cross functional stakeholders.
  • Ensure optimized purchase order management which supports production schedules, suppliers’ price break points and storage restrictions.
  • Manage PO invoice matching and resolve discrepancies to ensure timely payment of orders.
Strategically engage with supplier community and internal stakeholders
  • Demonstrate excellent conflict resolution skills.
  • Identify and resolve risks to supply continuity.
  • Build and support strong long-term relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify waste and seek opportunities for cost reduction in the supply chain.
  • Provide adhoc reports as required.
Work cross-functionally with commercial, operations & QA to source and develop new materials
  • This will include coordinating both the product qualifications & vendor set up activity.
  • Ensuring all cross functional team needs are recognized and met.

Education and Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a procurement and purchasing capacity.
• Degree in business or certification in supply chain or related discipline (SCMP, CIPS, CPIM, CPSM).
• Experience in production or manufacturing environment would be an asset.
• Excellent communication, time management skills and ability to prioritize.
• Excel at working independently and with exceptional problem-solving skills.
• Computer literate with exceptional skills in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to create and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Worked with Sage X3 or other ERP systems, Microsoft Power BI, Smartsheet, or other analytical tools.
