The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a self-motivated Buyer to join our purchasing team in Burlington.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders for raw materials (commodities, soap noodle, specialties, extracts, oils, fragrances, actives and pigments) ensuring alignment with production requirements and market conditions.
  • Manage order confirmations, expedite deliveries, and resolve supply issues to maintain uninterrupted production schedules.
  • Proactively communicate vendor or material issues that may impact manufacturing timelines or delivery commitments.
  • Drive supply base consolidation by identifying strategic sourcing opportunities and evaluating supplier performance.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to manage excess inventory and conduct end-of-program reviews for continuous improvement.
  • Support Quality, R&D, Scheduling and Production teams during product development and change management processes, ensuring raw material compatibility and compliance.
  • Assist the Project Management team to ensure timely sourcing and launch of new programs, including alternative material evaluations.
  • Address vendor-related quality issues in collaboration with the Quality Department, ensuring corrective actions and long-term resolutions.
  • Lead cost reduction initiatives through benchmarking, re-sourcing, and negotiation of pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers.
  • Provide support to the Director of Purchasing on strategic initiatives and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
Qualifications & Experience
  • College diploma or university degree in Supply Chain, Business, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment, with direct exposure to soap noodles, palm oil, or oleochemical products.
  • Strong vendor relationship management skills, with experience in negotiating contracts and managing international suppliers.
  • Well-developed communication and analytical skills (Excel), with the ability to interpret market trends and supplier data.
  • High level of planning, organizational, and implementation skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • PMAC/APICS certification or active enrollment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with sustainability standards (e.g., RSPO) and regulatory compliance related to palm oil sourcing is preferred.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools.
