Job description

The Data Value Stream team is responsible for providing accurate data and business analytics across the Group Benefits organization and our customers. The Business Analytics Specialist will play a key role in defining data‑driven solutions to tackle business area problems, tracking down & understanding new data sources, while having the opportunity to collaborate with members of Agile Kanban Business Analytics squads. They will support and transition from SQL Server data technologies, including Stored Procedures, SSIS packages, and SSRS reports to Azure Databricks Platform and Power BI reporting. The Business Analytics Specialist will be accountable for understanding the business across Group Benefits, translating requirements into agile stories and data views. They will be actively engaged in our analytics development cycle from an ideation/requirements/testing perspective, while also investigating data issues and answering data inquiries from our business partners.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Become a data domain subject matter expert while expanding Group Benefits business acumen
  • Investigate & analyze new data sources and how they connect to existing data models
  • Collaborate/coordinate within Agile Kanban squads and business partners to deliver the Data Value Stream roadmap
  • Support steady‑state Microsoft SQL Server datasets, SSIS packages and SSRS reports
  • Transition data and reporting to Azure Databricks/Power BI reports
  • Develop and update technical documentation
  • Support adhoc requests for data & visualization when required
Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in a Business Analytics / Business Analyst role
  • University/College in computer science, information technology, math, or a related field
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL
  • Experience with SSIS and SSRS support and development
  • Experience with Microsoft BI stack (including Analysis Services, Paginated Reports, Data Gateway, Power Pivot & Azure SQL)
  • Analytical mind with a problem‑solving aptitude
  • Capable of adapting quickly, managing multiple demands & competing priorities, while delivering to deadlines
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience and business knowledge in Financial Services and/or Group Benefits is a valuable asset
  • Experience with RLS & Embedded Power BI is an asset

Salary range is expected to be between

$83,400.00 CAD - $133,400.00 CAD
