Position : Business Analyst with Insurance Background Location : Waterloo, Ontario Duration : Contract

Principal Responsibilities
  • Engaging with existing and prospective users to understand and document their information needs predicated on an understanding of both business processes and the business decisions that users need to make
  • Provide BA support to BI projects to enable them to meet their deadlines
  • Working with IT colleagues to understand and document available data sources and their interrelation
  • Collaborating with other team members to design solutions
  • Collaborating with other team members to develop strong reconciliation and control processes
  • Working with quality assurance to ensure that business requirements are met
  • Responsible for partnering with business and user group representatives to understand business decisions and the related reporting and analysis needs
  • Requirements gathering, user interviews, running workshops, prototyping
  • Document requirements in a format that is intelligible to both business partners and IT colleagues
  • Analyse and document available data sources and data flows to standards and in a consistent manner
  • Collaborate with colleagues in designing solutions that meet the established business needs
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience of fulfilling a BA role in the full life-cycle of a DW/BI project
  • Experience of working as a BI BA within the London Market
  • A thoroughgoing knowledge of the commercial Insurance and reinsurance industry
  • Degree educated
  • Demonstrable understanding of the collateral factors that lead to success in DW/BI projects, including user engagement, prototyping, MDM, data quality and educational approach
  • Experience of working collaboratively in an agile manner
Technical Skills
  • Working knowledge of SQL, data analysis, reporting and modelling tools
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server and the associated Microsoft BI stack, including MDS and DQS desirable
