Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience in a Capital Markets environment working with financial products.
  • Ability to create and run SQL queries independently.
  • Experience in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents and Process Models.
  • Ensure business specifications are accurately documented.
  • Work closely across technology teams to facilitate communication.

Skills

Good understanding of FI and OTC products and their pricing
3 years’ practical experience in Capital Markets

The Team

Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking, and Capital Markets businesses.

The Role

GBME is searching for Business Analyst Specialist to work closely with various stakeholders including business partners in operations and financial engineering, business analyst, architecture, and infrastructure to understand business requirements and drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions within GBME.

The successful candidate will have a results-oriented and curious mindset with strong technical skills. You will work closely with cross functional teams, including engineers, solutions architects, and business teams to develop and implement market leading solutions that are scalable and deliver excellence, and value to our business partners and customers.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  • Demonstrate an informed knowledge of business functions to resolve problems and capitalize on improvement opportunities .
  • Ensure business specifications/requirements documentation is accurately prepared and comprehensive to support sizing/development efforts and as input to various project documentation.
  • Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, Design Documents, Use Cases, and Process Models as required .
  • Participate in the development of detailed project plans, the monitoring of progress against planned objectives, the financial review, and securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management.
  • Work closely across GBME technology teams during all stages of the system development life cycle and bridge the gap between business and technology sides of the solution.
  • Liaising between the business community and the IT organization to provide technical solutions that meet user needs.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in Global regions.
  • Support production issues and handle escalations during Release cycles as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc work as needed
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
  • Good understanding of FI and OTC products and their pricing
  • 3 years’ practical experience and product business knowledge in Capital Markets.
  • 3 years working knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, with ability to create and run queries independently.
  • Experience working with all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Proficient with Unix Tools, shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.), SQL queries, PL/SQL, and SQL Loader - or equivalent
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.
  • A recognized undergraduate degree or diploma in business administration, computer science or related field required.
  • Excellent working experience of Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Exposure to Risk Watch (Nice To Have)
